Oxidation-reduction potential, or ORP, is the abbreviation of Oxidation-Reduction Potential. ORP is a comprehensive indicator of the environmental conditions of media including soil, natural water, culture media, etc. It represents the relative degree of oxidation or reduction of the media. In water, each substance has its own redox properties. On a microscopic level, each different substance has a certain oxidation-reduction ability. These substances with different oxidation-reduction properties can interact with each other, and ultimately constitute a certain macroscopic oxidation-reduction capability. The so-called redox potential is used to reflect the macroscopic oxidation-reduction properties of all substances in aqueous solution. The higher the redox potential, the stronger the oxidizing property; the lower the potential, the weaker the oxidizing property. If the potential is positive, it means that the solution shows certain oxidizing properties, and if it is negative, it means that the solution shows reducing properties. The online ORP electrode ASR100E developed and produced by Daruifuno is made of ring-shaped platinum and has a wide measurement range, which can meet the ORP measurement within -2000~2000mV. Glass shell pH electrode is suitable for all types of pure water, sewage, surface water, laboratory wastewater and other occasions.
ORP is the ability of a lake or river to purify or break down organic pollutants from an electrochemical perspective. When the ORP value in a water body is high, it also means that the water contains a large amount of oxygen, and some bacteria that decompose dead tissue and pollutants can work more efficiently under aerobic conditions. Generally speaking, the higher the ORP value, the stronger the water decomposition ability, which means the healthier the water body. In the sediments at the bottom of these water bodies, there are many bacteria that can decompose organic matter in the sediments and consume a large amount of oxygen, resulting in a reduction in the oxygen content of the lower water body, thereby reducing the ORP value.
